Louise Cartledge

Lockdown and a change of personal circumstances were the catalysts that reignited Louise’s ambition to be an artist, having done very little drawing or painting since leaving school despite a life-long interest in the arts. Largely self-taught, learning through trial and error and with limited time available to devote to art, Louise is not an established or prolific artist but produces a few good quality pieces each year. She works mainly in pencil and mixed media, finding her main inspirations in nature, organic forms and people. Louise enjoys the interplay of light and shade and how these impact on and add new dimensions to a subject or a scene. She is a keen portrait artist, focusing her work on faces with expression and those which portray or instil a sense of emotion and experiences taken from a variety of sources.
